April Martinez retired from the Army in 2011 as a Staff Sergeant. Since her return from Afghanistan in 2007, she has experienced 24/7 migraines. While in Washington State, April tried medical cannabis with success and it enabled her to come off all but one medication. Upon returning to Texas in 2015, she was left with having to once again take multiple medications, none of which helped as much as cannabis did.
She is passionate about sharing her experiences and advocating for an expansion of the Texas Compassionate Use Prorgam. April lives in Killeen with her husband, a retired Master Sergeant and her four children.
